The Recipe for a New Moon Manifestation Box
You'll be surprised by the amount of progress you can make by the next moon cycle.
I try to organize my life using moon cycles. While some people look to notable days like New Year’s Day and birthdays to focus on new beginnings, I create a new beginning approximately every 28 days.
Moon cycles are perfect for focusing on a particular intention because there is:
A moment of pure potential
A gradual increase in power
A moment of climactic fulfillment
A period of gradual release
A moment of internal reflection
While I’ve focused on certain intentions using moon cycles for years, I didn’t always track my progress. Sometimes I would even forget what my focus was supposed to be by the time the full moon came along. That mistake caused me to miss out on seeing signs from the Universe meant to guide me along my journey, as well as how powerful I and my manifestations were. Tracking your progress can also help you to gain confidence in using your superpowers of magic and intuition so you become even more skilled as you move forward in your life.
So about that manifestation box
When you create a manifestation box at the start of a new moon cycle, you fill it with symbols of the intention you’d like to focus on for that cycle.
If you’re hoping to achieve financial abundance, you might place a dollar bill or a bank statement in the box. If you’d like to focus on a new business idea, you might put a business plan or written business goal in the box.
The symbols you use are entirely up to you. The only requirement is that you understand what the symbols mean. You get brownie points if the symbols conjure up emotion in you. (Emotions contain high energy, and energy always makes magic more powerful.)
You can use any box. It can be a shoebox lying around your home. It can be a box that a birthday gift from Amazon arrived in. Technically it doesn’t even have to be a box as long as it is a container that allows you to place your symbols inside. For example, it can be an envelope, a coffee can or even a piece of tupperware.
I like to decorate my manifestation boxes in a way that appeals to my sense of beauty but that’s not necessary.
Timing the ritual to the cycle
You can set any intention you want on any given moon cycle. However, if you dabble in astrology, you may want to use themes that correspond with the sign the new moon falls in or with the house the new moon falls in. For example, tonight we’re experiencing new moon energy in Cancer so you might focus on intentions related to your home or family, or intentions that have to do with nurturing yourself and your body. If the new moon falls in your fifth house as it does in mine, you might focus on intentions related to children, fun, sex or dating.
So here’s how this ritual goes. Once you have your intention, your symbols and your box:
At the new moon: Place the symbols in the box. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Visualize yourself experiencing the outcome you’d like to achieve as far as that intention is concerned. Put the box someplace where you can see it regularly.
At the first quarter: Take some time to reflect on the last few days. Open your box and look at your symbols. Take them out and hold them. What has happened in the area of your life that is related to that intention since the new moon? Write down any reflections you have.
At the full moon: Take out the box again. Reflect on the two weeks since the new moon and note what has transpired in the area of your life related to the intention. Don’t just record things that happened in the external world. Note whether you feel different about that area of your life. Remember, magic occurs internally before it is reflected in the outer world.
At the third quarter: Take out the box again. You guessed it; you’re going to repeat the reflection exercise and write down what you’ve observed. This time you’re also going to begin to release your focus on this area of your life and practice gratitude for what has been accomplished.
In the days leading to the next new moon: Take out the box again. Focus again on gratitude. Note that you might not have achieved your ultimate goal in that one cycle. Remember, the most important goals often take time. But know that you made progress.
Notes to keep in mind
You can choose as many intentions to focus on as you want but I typically stick with one at a time. It’s easier that way for me to track my progress and I believe it gives that one intention more of my energy rather than having my energy divided between multiple goals.
You may choose to focus on this same area during the next moon cycle if you want to keep the momentum going. Or you might choose to focus on something else during the next moon cycle and come back to your original intention a couple of moon cycles down the line.
I love this idea. Thank you for sharing this ritual with us! I do monthly intentions with the moon but am trying to become more strategic and organized with everything and feel this could be a fun way to take my practice up a notch 💚
